About me
So, you want to know a little about me, huh?
Well, where to begin? I started telling funny stories in kindergarten to classmates during naptime. Kids would gather around me to hear me make shit up. I remember there was one about Godzilla and another about race cars.
My 4th grade teacher made us keep journals. Because I had no life issues to contemplate other than what was for lunch or if Cory Checkley liked me or not, I decided to start writing a fake show I called The Weird News. It was pretty much a news show where I was the anchor and I reported on weird, made-up happenings in the world. I remember Weird Al was a guest like 5 times.
When I got to college, I joined an improv comedy group and wrote humor columns for our the school paper. I often made people laugh during dinner. My senior year I lived with three of my best friends in what we called “The Apimpment,” and hijinx ensued. That same year I was a semi-finalist in Maxim’s “Win This Job” contest, where they were looking for a college senior to become an intern.
After graduating, I floundered for a while before doing some acting, trying stand-up comedy in Philadelphia, and joining a sketch comedy group.
My first blog started when I woke up one night with the immediate and desperate need to run to the bathroom. After sitting for ten minutes, I realized that, on a previous visit, I had neglected to replace the toilet paper. I rifled through the cabinets under the sink and wound up using cotton balls to wipe myself.
I wanted to share this compelling story with my friends, but being out of college and no longer writing a humor column meant the story had to die with me. Or so I thought. It was then that I started my blog.
I started working with a writer for The Onion but never got anywhere. I sent some stuff to CollegeHumor.com and began writing for them. I also wrote for the now somewhat defunct Punch Panda as well as some other sites. After a little while, I upgraded to a newer blog. OneEggShy represents the next step in my evolution as a humorist.
I graduated with a Master’s in Writing in Fall of ‘07. I’m learning a Master’s Degree in Writing doesn’t do much for you in the real life.
